Come on out and see the critically aclaimed french film, The Wedding Song. This is the second of three films we are showing in this series. We were met with a huge success with our last screening, The Rabbi's Cat!
The Nazi occupation of Tunisia strains the bonds of friendship between a Muslim woman and a Sephardic Jewish woman who are both preparing for their marriages.
The film immerses us in a women's environment. Jewish teenager Myriam is abetting her Muslim friend Nour's love for a young man she's forbidden to marry until he finds work. Meanwhile, the Germans demand that Tunis' Jews pay an outrageously high "fine," which Myriam's mother can't afford.
Light refreshmants will be served.
