B’nai Or (Community of Light) of Boston is a Jewish renewal community that is guided and inspired by the many roots and branches of Jewish tradition and spiritual practice. We are a community that uses Hebrew and English in our Davening (Prayer) as a way of expressing our connection to Judaism and our desire to deeply engage in prayer. B’nai Or specializes in celebrating all of life’s great moments including (but not limited to) welcoming babies and children, coming of age, entering Judaism, wedding and commitment, and end of life. We also are also working to create ceremonies for life’s other important moments such as change in career, graduation, diagnosis and recovery from illness, and those that people bring to us along their journey.  An egalitarian community, our membership reflects a diversity of lifestyles, family configurations, and spiritual paths. As Jewish seekers, we draw on prayer, song, movement, meditation, and chants to create an uplifting and vibrant davening community. B’nai Or is a comfortable place to explore your spiritual roots, to find personal meaning in Jewish texts and traditions, and to practice acts of loving kindness in the context of a heart-centered community. All are welcome. Join us at an upcoming Shabbat service, learning event or concert. Please visit our web site to learn more. We welcome all who wish to participate in a meaningful high holy day worship experience. Please join our warm and welcoming community (about 20 minutes from downtown Boston; accessible by public transportation) for Rosh HaShana and/or Yom Kippur as well as our services throughout the year. To download high holy day registration materials and learn more about our community, please visit our web site.

We provide religious, spiritual and social support for our members, people who vary greatly in their religious backgrounds and levels of Jewish observance.  So, whether you are someone who is completely fluent in the rituals of Judaism, or someone who is a complete novice, or you are someone who is completely observant of Jewish laws and practices or someone who just needs a connection to your heritage, you will find a place and a home at Temple Shalom.  From the first time you enter our doors, you will feel like you have a home and a place here.

Nehar Shalom is an intimate, joyful Jewish community growing organically in a diverse, vibrant and socially conscious neighborhood of Boston. Located in a large, beautifully preserved Victorian house by Jamaica Pond, we are Jamaica Plain's first ever synagogue. Without airs, we offer immediately accessible community in which each person has the opportunity to make a difference. Our davening, our manner of prayer, is traditional in form, primarily in Hebrew, filled with spirit and song. In keeping with the warmth and openness of the Chassidic shtibl or prayer room, the transplanted model upon which we are based, our goal is not to be rabbi-centered, but to offer leadership opportunity to all, with the rabbi serving primarily as teacher and guide. Seeking to reflect God's Oneness and to see God's image in each person, our defining values include a commitment to social justice, to inclusion, to equality of men and women, and to striving to transcend differences and recognize each other's gifts. We welcome interfaith families and offer a safe place of worship and belonging to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Jews.

Spiritual Leader: Cantor Jodi Schechtman, D.M.

Temple Beth Am has been at the heart of progressive, egalitarian Judaism in Framingham and the surrounding towns for over 50 years. Our strength lies in the diversity of our membership which includes toddlers to seniors, singles to large families, interfaith couples to those brought up with very traditional backgrounds. Our Shabbat worship services also reflect that diversity. Each month, our Friday evening worship includes a Tot Shabbat service for our youngest members, a Family Service led by students in our religious school and our famous 70-voice Jr. Choir, a service which includes a Torah reading, and our ever-popular Shabbat Unplugged service, complete with a live band and plenty of singing and dancing. Our Shabbat morning minyan meets every week in the library to study Torah and share friendship, and our Saturday morning service and Bar/Bat Mitzvah takes place in the sanctuary. Our Religious School is bustling with kindergarteners through 12th graders and our Lifelong Learning offers something for adult learners of all ages and all skill levels.

Temple Beth Am boasts 3 youth groups, as well as a Sisterhood and Brotherhood whose good works extend beyond the walls of our synagogue and go out to perform acts of loving kindness to our entire community. Our monthly Coffees with Cantor Schechtman are loved by our retired members. We are part of the Framingham Interfaith Clergy Association as well as the Union for Reform Judaism.

Temple Beth Am prides itself on its diversity, its inclusivity and its warmth and we welcome you to come and meet us. Please check
