Registration has begun for the fall JCC Karishim Swim Team at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton. Karishim is a competitive swim team open to boys and girls ages 7-18. Self-esteem, teamwork and sportsmanship are stressed. Swimmers participate in US Swimming League meets held throughout New England. The swim team season begins on September 20. A five-day swim team trial, which is open to swimmers with no previous swim team experience, takes place September 20, 21, 22, 27 and 28 from 5-6:30pm (ages 10 and under) and 6:30-8:15pm (ages 11 and older) at the JCC.  Experience in swimming is necessary and knowledge of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke is required.  Cost for the trial is $50. The swim team trains at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC indoor pool and at the Town of Brookline pool. Registration is open to the entire community. JCC membership required.
